The Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund was established by Royal Decree No. (48/2004) issued on the fifteenth of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1425 AH corresponding to the fifth of May 2004 AD.

Message of Directors Board Chairman

The ship of the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund sails within Oman’s vision 2040, to reach Oman to the ranks of developed countries, armed with knowledge, innovation, distinguished geographical location, multiple natural resources, and a diversified and financially sustainable economy, within the frameworks of legislation and governance. Agriculture (vegetarian and animal) and the fisheries sector, by financing research and development projects, starting with production and processing, and ending with the stages of investigation and analysis of products and pathogens; To contribute and participate in supplying the gross domestic product, achieve high rates of self-sufficiency, and support the food security system in the Sultanate.

Referring to the data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information, it is clear that there are positive economic indicators related to the agricultural sectors (both plant and animal) and fisheries, most notably the sector’s growth rate of about (6.1%) in 2019, and the sector’s contribution to the total non-oil activities amounted to (3.37%). and (2.4%) as a contribution to the GDP. Commodity exports of plant products, animal products and live animals increased during 2019 by about (18.3%) compared to 2017, and fish exports increased between 2017 and 2019 by (204%). Total fish production during the same period by (67%), The production of dates increased by (4.5%) and the quantity of honey produced by (27%), and the areas and production of vegetables, fruits, perennial fodder crops and field crops increased, and the local production of red meat, fresh milk, poultry meat and table eggs increased.

Finally, this report will review the results achieved during the year 2020.
